Molly Russell was a teenage British girl who reportedly committed suicide after watching death-related sensitive content on social media. Her suicide case came into the limelight with the broadcast of the television programme “Molly Russell: Did Her Death Change Social Media?” on BBC.

The UK government found the social media platforms Pinterest and Instagram played a major role in the death of the teenager, as it was because of the content she watched on these websites that made her mentally unstable and take her own life.

Senior Coroner Andrew Walker has asked to prepare a report to take preventive measures to cease the death of people in the future due to such harmful content and to send this report to the  UK’s communications regulator, British Government, Meta, and Pinterest.

Who Is Molly Russell’s Mother?

Russell’s mother’s name is Janet Russell. She was reportedly the one who found her daughter dead in her bedroom. According to her, she did household chores before she called out for her daughter.

When she didn’t respond, Janet went to her room and saw a pile of clothes lying on the floor and found her dead in the room. She then called out for her father and they called for medical help.
