At approximately 12:51 p.m. Local time, the Madera County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an armed carjacking, after which deputies quickly responded. The victim, who was inside his AT&T work van parked in the parking lot of a business complex at the time, informed deputies that the suspect approached him.
The victim then exited the van and confronted the suspect, who snatched the airsoft pistol. However, according to the sheriff’s office, the victim’s heroic efforts were short-lived as he was pepper-sprayed by the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene in a stolen van, and the sheriff’s office issued an alert to local law enforcement agencies looking for the stolen vehicle.
Then, at approximately 12:56 p.m., Fresno police officers received a 911 call about a gun-wielding man entering the Bullard High School campus. Then, 20 minutes later, officers were dispatched to investigate an armed robbery at Central Valley Community Bank that involved a man in an AT&T van.
A Fresno police representative told KFSN, “The suspect walked into the bank and demanded money and said he was armed.” “Fearing the suspect was armed, the money was handed over and the suspect took the money and left the location.”
“Officers discovered evidence linking Banksbey to all three incidents, including the hoax call of an armed subject at Bullard High School,” the rep said.
