Who Is Luna Contreras From “Snack vs. Chef”?
Netflix’s new food contest series Snack vs. Chef features 12 creative chefs fighting for a $50,000 cash prize. Luna Contreras used to be one of the reality TV show’s competitors. On her Instagram feed, the talented chef identifies herself as a “brown transgender girl” from Portland, Oregon. She is a proud transgender woman and openly expresses her support for the LGBTQ+ community on social media.
Luna announced her participation in Snack vs. Chef in an Instagram post, writing:
“As a transgender woman, my grandmother would be very happy.” I’m so glad I did my best to continue to raise awareness for transgender youth and represent Portland! “
She claims that the cooking show was filmed in Stamford, Connecticut, during the outbreak.

All about Luna Contreras’ cooking experience
Luna Contreras has spent most of her career working at several restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to her LinkedIn profile. Luna worked as a kitchen assistant at Fonda in the San Francisco Bay Area after completing a one-year internship at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.
She joined DF Mexico as co-executive chef after three years at Fonda. Luna became a chef at Mamacita restaurant in 2009, and she quickly rose to prominence in the culinary world. Luna’s abilities are also appreciated at Padrecito, a restaurant where she worked after Mamacita. Luna started working at Nightingale in Portland in 2020 but quit after eight months. She then chose to become a chef at Chelo, a popular restaurant in Portland. Luna also serves on the board of directors of Family Meals, a nonprofit organization.

“Luna has spent most of her life struggling to accept and embrace her true identity. After a long battle with gender dysphoria, she finally decided to start hormone replacement therapy. This continuing journey has reaffirmed my commitment to being humble, honest and genuine.”
According to her Instagram, she likes to express her opinions in lengthy posts. In one of her most recent posts, she expressed gratitude for Snack vs. Chef for providing her with a “great experience” background. She went on to say that the show helped her make new friends and gave her the courage to try new things. While Luna has touched many hearts with her compassion and cooking skills in Portland, she’s now set to do it again by starring on the Netflix cooking show, Snack vs. Chef.
Part 1 Snacks vs. Competitive Chefs
In addition to Luna, Hari Cameron, Christian Gill, Kristopher Edelen, Danny Kievit, Sandy Dee Hall, Clara Park, Lauryn Bodden, Ali Manning, Lauren Jude, Scottish Francis and Kevin Gregory will compete in the new Netflix show, Snack vs.
According to the official synopsis:
“This new food competition, hosted by comedians Megan Stalter and Hari Kondabolu, sees 12 chefs compete in the ultimate snack competition, not just recreating some of the signature snacks. world’s most iconic but also challenged to create their own unique snacks inspired by beloved classics. Only one person will prevail and win a total prize pool of $50,000.”
Co-hosts were Megan Stalter and Hari Kondabolu, and judges included Chef Helen Park and culinary scientist Ali Bouzari. Part 1 of Snack vs. Chef will premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 3 a.m. ET.
