On 16 March 2023, an emergency call operator answered a call at about 5:30 am regarding the stabbing attack at home.
The Priceville Police office assisted Morgan County Deputies as they came to the site on Village Dr close to Hartselle.
Once on the scene, Police found an adult male with a stab wound and a dead 8-year-old kid Tyler.
The survivor has since been named Charles Long and was flown to Huntsville Hospital after receiving treatment at the crime scene.
Charles Long is identified as Tyler Gardiner’s grandfather and Jennifer Long’s father.
Deputies revealed that Jennifer was detained at the homicide scene.
Charles Long (Tyler Gardiner’s grandfather) requested responding Deputy Pepper to check on the kid because he was worried that his daughter Jennifer might harm the boy.
Jennifer is charged with capital murder of a kid under 14.
