Andrea Massi, Tina Maze’s boyfriend, is a head skiing coach and the leader of the Team to aMAZE.
Maze used to train with the national ski team before joining Team to aMAZE, but she later decided to team up with Massi. Maze’s career took a huge step forward as a result of this decision.
Maze also took first place in two giant slalom races during the 2009 Alpine Skiing World Cup, one in Maribor, Slovenia, and the other in Sweden.
Massi also assisted Maze to a giant slalom victory in 2010 and finished second in both the slalom and giant slalom. Maze finished fourth overall with fifteen top-10 finishes that season. She finished third in the giant slalom rankings once more.
Massi assisted Maze in winning an alpine ski, women’s World Cup giant slalom in St. Moritz, Switzerland, in 2012. Although Tina had another coach on team aMaze, she preferred working with Massi.
Maze and Massi were also present during Maze’s record-breaking season in 2013. The season was an all-time favourite for the skier, who won 11 races and accumulated a record 2414 World Cup points.
Early Life
Maze made her World Cup debut at the age of 15 in a giant slalom race in Maribor, Slovenia, in January 1999.
Maze competed in slalom, giant slalom, and super-G during her early World Cup seasons, but only the first two disciplines earned her World Cup points.
Maze’s best finish at the 2001 World Championships was 16th in slalom. Maze won her first podium in giant slalom in Maribor in January 2002.
Maze finished twelfth in the giant slalom in her Olympic debut in Park City, Utah, at the 2002 Winter Olympics.
