What Josiah Saw Ending Explained: What Happened To Their Mother?

What Josiah Saw ending has all of us in wraps, and well, here we are to put your mind at ease. The film released in 2021. It has the elements of horror and thrill. Vincent Grashaw directed the story. It has actor Robert Patrick in the lead role. The plot of the film throws light at a family who obviously are hiding secrets from the people. They have a buried history only known to them. Well, after 20 years, they will be seen coming together to a farmhouse. Although, the situation will take a weird turn when their past returns once again in order to haunt them.

As for the cast, we see Robert Patrick reprising the role of Josiah Graham. Then Nick Stahl enacts the character of Eli Graham. Scott Haze does the part of Thomas Graham. The three belong to the Graham family we have talked about. The trio has sinned in the past and now must suffer from the consequences. The film begins with us seeing Josiah living at the farmhouse. He stays there along with his son, who is not stable mentally.

As for the town, they do not even come near the farmhouse because of the popular belief that the place is haunted. The story reveals that the mom who once lived there hung herself up the willow tree on the farm. This is why Josiah’s son Tommy has become mentally unstable, as he will never be able to forget the picture of his mother from his mind. Now, before we dig deeper into the plot, it is to be known that the film is divided into three parts. This trio comes together at the end and forms the conclusion of the film.

Part 1

We see that Tommy and Josiah sit down at the dinner table. The child is praying for his mother and other siblings. Josiah is an atheist and does not believe in god. Later that night, he wakes up to a horrifying scene that is not shown to the viewers. This is why the film is called What Josiah Saw. Soon after this incident, Josiah starts believing in God and says that he was visited by his wife. Apparently, she is burning in hell, and they shall wash away their sins to make peace with the Almighty. He tells his son that they have to take matters into their own hands and correct their mistakes to avoid the wrath of God.

Part 2

Then we see Eli, who is another son of the Graham family. He lives on the outskirts of the city. He is popular with the police for sleeping with a minor. On the other hand, the gangsters of the town are also on him in order to finish their unsettled business. In order to get immunity, the leader of the gangster group offers him to loot the Gypsies who come to town each year.

During his visit to the gypsies, he comes across a fortune teller who tells him that he is going to die very soon and is the reason why his mother burns. After this, he is successful in looting the gypsy gold and rescues a child who was held captive by the group. He pays the gangster leader and frees himself from their grasp.

Part 3

This part focuses on the third Graham child named Mary. She is a psychic photographer. She is hoping to adopt a child with her husband. Mary is going through depression and suicidal thoughts as she is obsessed with sharp objects. As an initiative to save herself and the marriage, she is trying to have a baby. Eli comes and meets her and tells her about the deal that their father is making in order to sell the farmhouse. Thus, they go back to take care of the business.

Eli and Mary come back home and find the skeleton of the baby that they killed, which is a grave sin. As it turns out, the baby was of Mary and Josiah Graham, who is actually dead and used to abuse Mary. Tommy is still on his father’s side and can see him. The two kill Eli and Mary beside the willow and go back inside to sit at the dinner table. The willow catches a holy fire, which means that their sins have been repented, and now their mother is safe in the afterlife.
