The 17-month-old son of Kim and Barry Plath was named Joshua. When Kim was doing yard work outside the house in their family’s SUV, he passed away unexpectedly on the family’s property.
“I peeked for our 17-month-old Joshua, observed that he was away from the truck, then pulled forward to pick the next tree,” she said on their family website.

After visiting Joshua’s grave, the Plaths came to the conclusion that they should cherish Joshua’s 17 months of life rather than dwell on the tragic details of his passing, and they should involve their younger children as well. Furthermore, Kim acknowledged that Joshua was now 13 years old.
