Two rescued after they fell from boat in Knox County
Two people were successfully rescued Wednesday after they fell out of a boat, according to a news release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office received a report of a boating accident on the west side of Green Oaks Lake in Victoria where two people fell out of a boat. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office immediately deployed the KCSO Water Rescue Team.
A responding Knox County Deputy was able to locate and safely recover both people, who were unable to reach the bank by their vehicle because of the amount of ice that was still intact, the release says.
No injuries were reported. Both individuals were evaluated by GHAS (Galesburg Hospitals Ambulance Service) with no injuries reported. The boat was recovered and returned to the bank by the KCSO Water Rescue Team.
“A special thank you to the Illinois DNR, GHAS, Oak Run Fire and Rescue, Victoria Fire and Rescue, and Oneida Fire and Rescue for their assistance in recovering the individuals and their boat,” the release says. “The Knox County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind you to always wear a life vest while out on the water.”
