Timothy P. Walbert serves as Independent Chairman of the Board of the Company. He has served as a member of our Board of Directors since July 2019 and Chairman of our Board of Directors since April 2020. Mr. Walbert is the president, chief executive officer and director of Horizon Therapeutics plc, a position he has held since June 2008, and has served as chairman of its board of directors since March 2010. From May 2007 to June 2009, Mr. Walbert served as president, chief executive officer and director of IDM Pharma, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical company that was acquired by Takeda America Holdings, Inc. in June 2009. Prior to that, Mr. Walbert served as executive vice president, commercial operations of NeoPharm, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical company. From 2001 to 2005, he served as divisional vice president and general manager, immunology, where he led the global development and launch of the multi-indication biologic HUMIRA and divisional vice president, global cardiovascular strategy at Abbott Laboratories, now AbbVie Inc. Mr. Walbert serves as the chairman of the board of directors of Zyla Life Sciences, a public life science company, and as a member of the board of directors of Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Inc. He previously served on the board of directors of Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from October 2015 to March 2018, Raptor Pharmaceutical Corp. from 2010 to 2014 and XOMA Corporation from 2011 to 2017. Mr. Walbert is co-chairman of the board of MATTER and serves on the board of directors of the Illinois Biotechnology Innovation Organization, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization, World Business Chicago and the Greater Chicago Arthritis Foundation. He is a member of the Illinois Innovation Council, the National Organization for Rare Disorders Advisory Board and serves on the Board of Trustees of Muhlenberg College. Mr. Walbert received his bachelor of arts degree in business from Muhlenberg College.
