JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - MitsubishiGalant jadi salah satu sedan yang cukup populer pada masanya. Salah satunya pada generasi kedelapan yang biasa disebut Galant Hiu. Ternyata, model ini keluar juga dengan versi wagon.
Galant versi wagon ini memang khusus diluncurkan untuk pasar otomotif di Jepang alias Japan Domestic Market (JDM). Model yang dipasarkan ke beberapa negara lain hanya jenis sedan.
Diketahui beberapa unit Mitsubishi Legnum ada juga yang masuk ke Indonesia melalui importir umum.
Populasi Legnum tentu sangat sedikit, hingga bisa dikatakan sebagai mobil langka.

Untuk pasar Jepang, Galant versi wagon ini diluncurkan dengan nama Mitsubishi Legnum. Mobil ini termasuk generasi kedelapan Galant dengan kode EC5A/EC5W.
Mesin 2.5 L, DOHC, V6, twin-turbo yang disematkan pada dapur pacunya mampu menghasilkan tenaga maksimum hingga 276 tk dan torsi 362 Nm.
Kecepatan maksimumnya diklaim tembus 260 kilometer per jam. Sedangkan kemampuan akselerasi untuk 0-96 kilometer per jam dapat tuntas diraih dalam waktu 5,3 detik.

Tersedia dua sistem transmisi, yakni manual 5-percepatan dan INVECS-II 5-percepatan otomatis. Sedangkan sistem penggeraknya, mengandalkan 4WD.
Model ini diproduksi mulai 1996 hingga 2002. Sekarang, populasinya semakin berkurang dan termasuk ke dalam mobil langka.
