Starring True Beauty star Moon Ga Young, Yoo Yeon Seok, Jung Ga Ram and Keum Sae Rok, Netflix and JTBC’s mid-week drama The Interest Of Love stayed away from the apparent cliches and chose to tell a slow-burn modern love story where love may or may not have a destination aka ending.
But after eight weeks of angst and speculation of how Sang Su and Ahn Su Yeong will reciprocate each other’s feelings, did our lead couple finally get together? Let’s find out!
The Interest Of Love ending explained
After the shocking ending of The Interest Of Love episode 15, viewers were in the dark about what happens next to Sang Su and Ahn Su Yeong’s lives. As per the prediction, the finale opens with the information that Su Yeong did not call back Sang Su, and four years have passed.
The time jump in the finale of The Interest Of Love helps the viewers understand how the characters went on their individual journeys and achieved what they wished to! Su Yeong’s former lover Jeong Jong Hyun becomes a police officer and Mi Gyung comes back from Washington to work at the headquarter of the bank.
The finale shows a wedding of a bank employee where all the old staff of the Youngpo branch gets together to discuss their lives but as usual, Su Yeong is missing from there.
Later, viewers discover that Su Yeong has finally started doing what she wanted to do- open a drawing cafe named Future Happiness.
Sang Su accidentally comes across the cafe and finds paintings of all the places where he has some cherished memories with Su Yeong.
Later, Sang Su once again visits the cafe for bank work and meets Su Yeong face to face.
Like always, there’s an instant connection and comfort that comes out of their conversation as they make further plans.
Sang Su and Su Yeong on a mountain of oblivion
The ending of The Interest Of Love implies a deeper meaning about love as viewers see Su Yeong and Sang Su walking on the path which the latter calls, “the mountain of oblivion” and talking about their regrets and what-ifs.
Two people who were once attracted to each other, wonder if they loved each other or if they were simply blinded by interest.
Sang Su and Su Yeong stand with each other in comfortable silence proving that sometimes love is not really about a destination but a shared journey and standing next to each other saying nothing.
