Return of the Jedi will be re-released for its 40th anniversary!

According to the Star Wars website, Return of the Jedi will return to theaters to celebrate its 40th anniversary for the first time in 26 years. The film will be shown for a limited time in select theaters starting April 28 and ending May 4 in the US and May 1 in the UK, just in time. Star Wars Day. Return of the Jedi gets epic new poster

In addition to announcing the film’s triumphant theatrical return, the official Star Wars website also announced a brand new poster featuring artwork by Matt Ferguson, who previously designed the film. 40th anniversary art for The Empire Strikes Back in 2020. See the poster here:

Matt Ferguson expressed his views on the new poster:

“I am delighted and grateful to be working on these films again, and even more so to have the freedom to continue what I started with Empire. For that poster, a cold mechanical vibe completely takes over the composition. But Return of the Jedi is essentially a victory for Luke and the Rebels, so I wanted the warmer colors back in the art, thus going green with red accents.”

For this new poster, Matt highlighted two of the story’s most impactful and important characters: Luke and Vader.

“Artwork should tell a story, so giving composition to those two characters just makes sense. Will Luke be turned? Is Vader going to overcome the darkness? It’s all a struggle between good and evil.”

Mark your calendars: The re-release is coming to the US on May 4

From April 28 until Star Wars Day on May 4, the film will be shown in select theaters in the United States. The film will only be shown in theaters from April 28 to May 1 in the UK. Information on the re-release for other countries has yet to be announced.
