Sherri D's Auto Sales in Rock Island closed

Another blow to the City of Rock Island.

Sherri D’s Auto Sales, a used car dealership that billed itself as the “Biggest Little Dealership in the Quad Cities” has shut its doors.

Local 4 News spoke with Sherri Disterhoft, the owner of Sherri D’s, and she told us she closed yesterday and sold the last remaining cars at auction today.

Disterhoft says her decision to close was a lifestyle one. She said the location has been a good corner for her, but that she had required very little floor plan financing to keep the business running and that after a divorce she wanted to make steps towards retirement.

Disterhoft also owns the Grease Monkey Sports Bar in Colona.

Disterhoft has listed the building and land for sale.

Local 4 News has reached out to Rock Island Economic Development Director Chandler Pool and Mayor Mike Thoms to find out what they may know.

We are awaiting more information on this from the City of Rock Island.

EARLIER UPDATE
