Scott got diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1997 but he took treatment and the treatment was successful. But on 12 November 2004, he was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor and he took the treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
He went under brain surgery on 23 June 2010 for preventing the recurrence of the benign tumor. This type of tumor caused blindness if left untreated.
Hamilton was hospitalized in November 2010 and came through the surgery well. He was again diagnosed with his 3rd brain tumor in 2016 but he said in march 2017 that his tumor shrunk without chemo.
