Officer Torelli joined the FCSO in July 1990 and continued for the next 33 years to dedicate himself to serving the citizens of Fauquier County in professional law enforcement roles.

On Wednesday, July 19th, the Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of deputy Salvatore “Sal” Torelli, via a statement shared on social media.

“We share in the deep sadness of our County today, with news of the loss of Salvatore “Sal” Torelli,” the post read.

Officer Torelli reportedly died unexpectedly from a massive heart attack.

“We are thankful for the many youth who were positively influenced by his kindness, care, and good humor which he backed with his steady strength of moral character and a heart which desired to protect. We honor his legacy, and offer our deep condolences to his family, friends, and all of you who he inspired.”

The announcement of Officer Torelli’s passing was flooded by heartfelt tributes and condolences across social media. He will be sorely missed.
