Ron Desantis Military Service
In 2004, at Harvard Law, Ron was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Navy and he was assigned to the Navy JAG (Judge Advocate General’s Corps).
He completed his studies at Naval Justice School in 2005. Later, he was upgraded from Lieutenant (Junior Grade) to lieutenant in 2006.
He worked for the commander of JTF-GTMO (Joint Task Force-Guantanamo), working directly with Ron at the Guantanamo Bay Joint Detention Facility.
In 2007, Ron directly reported to the Naval Special Warfare Command Group in California, where he was allocated to SEAL Team One and positioned in Iraq.
During his military career, Ron has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Navy, and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
As of 2022, he is still serving in the U.S. Navy Reserve (United States Navy Reserve (USNR)).
Ron Desantis Political Career
In 2012, Ronald declared that he would run in the Republican primary for Florida’s 6th congressional district.
Ron won the 6-candidate Republican Primary with 39% vote, while the runner-up party, State Representative Fred Costello received 23% votes.
In the November general election, DeSantis defeated Democratic nominee Heather Beaven (Opposite party candidate) 57–43%, with the majority in all 4 counties He was reelected in 2014 and 2016 too.
In the 2016 U.S. presidential election, He briefly goes for U.S. Senate but later withdrew his name when he came to know that incumbent senator Marco Rubio sought reelection.
During the 2018 gubernatorial campaign, Ron highlighted his support for Donald Trump and he won the Republican nomination in August.
It was a close result of the general election result between Ron and the Democratic candidate Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum. Ron was the winner with a 0.4% margin of victory.
On August 23, 2022, Ex-Republican Governor Charlie Crist won the Democratic Primary to face Ron in the Governor’s race which is going to be in November 2022.

Ron attended Catholic School, Dunedin High School from where he graduated in 1997. After completing his high school education, Ron studied history at Yale University, where he was captain of Yale’s varsity baseball team.
After graduating from Yale in 2001 with B.A. (Latin Honors), he attended Harvard Law School and graduated in 2005 with a Juris Doctor Degree.
