Rain moves in today ahead of a weekend cold blast
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A dreary end of the week and start to the weekend is on tap as a cold front drops into the area from the north.
Expect rain showers to increase as we get closer to the lunch hour on your Friday. Those showers will remain fairly light as severe weather nor heavy rains are expected. The chance for rain will linger through the night tonight and likely into the start of the weekend on Saturday morning. Highs today will be rather cool in the low 60s.
We go from cool today to cold on Saturday as a front sweeps through first thing in the morning. This will begin to shut down the rain chances but it will also turn us windy and much colder. Highs on Saturday are likely to be before daybreak with temperatures expected to fall into the 40s and remain there through the day. Once you factor in that 20-30 mph wind, it will feel like the 30s at times.
Sunshine returns by Sunday but it remains on the colder side. Lows will dip below freezing over inland spots come Monday morning with a frost being likely in many locations.
