Owain Arthur is best known for playing Francis Henshall in the National Theater production of One Man, Two Guvnors at the Royal Haymarket Theatre, where he studied under James Corden. His stage credits include The History Boys (NT), Romeo and Juliet (Royal Shakespeare Company), The Comedy of Errors (Royal Exchange), and Nicholas Hytner’s Birdsong (Comedy Theatre).

He has also appeared in a number of films, including White Island, The Patrol, Mr. Nice, Eldra, Higher Grounds and Disney’s upcoming The One and Only Ivan.
Owain Arthur apparently commented on his involvement in the next series in a 2022 Comic-Con interview, stating,
“It was one of those situations where I was cast as Durin and played a dwarf and thought, ‘Yes! I am allowed to wear prosthetic legs. I had to wear a wig, grow a beard, and wear these amazing outfits.” And honestly, I was pretty critical of it most of the time.
He continued,
“I really love it, and it’s an honor to be allowed to wear it – even though it’s uncomfortable and tiring.”
Owain Arthur portrays Prince Durin IV of Khazad-dûm.
Durin IV was the fourth king named Durin. Many individuals, like the previous three, think that he is the reincarnation of Durin I due to their striking resemblance. He is seen wearing the ring of power given to his predecessor Durin III, and he will most likely rule during the Last War of the Confederacy. He is the ruler of Khazad-dûm, a prosperous underground kingdom.
According to reports, Owain Arthur’s Durin IV was presented, saying:
“Durin III, king of Khazad-dûm and one of the first to possess the Rings of Power of the Dwarves, was their father. These Khazad-dûm Dwarves, or Moria as they were later called, played an important role in many of the pivotal wars in JRR Tolkien’s Second Age that The Rings of Power is expected to portray, worthy of praise. Notable is the defeat of the Dark Lord Sauron at the end of the Second Age.”

When asked about his looks, he said,
“My beard is about 16 sections long, and you’ll say, ‘Oh, there he is!’ through different stages of the creative process. [laughing] Until the last few cones, here exactly [on the cheekbones], which I realized, ‘Here he is!’ I’m working!'”
