According to police, a domestic dispute in Baltimore County on Friday night, November 24, turned into a fatal shooting incident involving a police officer.
The Baltimore County Police Department reported a domestic disturbance at the 2700 block of Maple Ave. in Parkville at around 11:30 p.m., according to police.
Shots were fired from within the house, and a woman could be heard screaming, according to The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. This is based on an initial evaluation of the evidence. An adult male unlocked the front door of the house and pointed a gun at the responding officers. Three officers fired their firearms during the incident.
At the scene, the adult male who had fired at the officers was declared deceased. A deceased adult female was also discovered during a search of the house. Beside the adult male, a handgun was found.
Investigators from the Maryland Attorney General’s Office Independent Investigations Division will be in charge of the investigation into the officer-involved shooting as homicide detectives from the Baltimore County Police Department look into the circumstances leading up to the murder.
Baltimore County Police identified the woman who was killed during the incident as 48-year-old Maxine Redfern.
The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Arnel Redfern.
