KURT Cobain’s smashed guitar is one of several iconic “axes” set to make thousands at a rock ’n’ roll auction.
The late Nirvana frontman’s Fender Stratocaster is expected to fetch £45,000 despite him snapping its neck on tour in Argentina in 1992.

He also wrote his name on it, plus a speech bubble saying “help me”.
Also on sale are guitars from Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher and Eddie Van Halen, who died last month.
It is thought Van Halen’s red, stripe-design Kramer will also go for £45,000.
Sir Paul played the acoustic Epiphone Texan FT-79 at a gig in Neuss, Germany, in aid of landmine victims.
Signed and with a smiley face, it could fetch at least £37,000.
