Iron Man Looks to Get a Fresh Start in Tony Stark: Iron Man

Just like he did in the MCU, Iron Man is leading the charge for the upcoming “Fresh Start” initiative. Titled Tony Stark: Iron Man, the comic will be part of a 2018 relaunch that will see the return of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Hulk in their classic identities of Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Odinson and Bruce Banner respectively.

“Fresh Start” was announced back in February, with the goal of revitalizing Marvel’s publishing via new series and creative teams. Dan Slott will be one of those team members, putting his 10-year run on The Amazing Spider-Man to good use. He will be joined by artist Valerio Schiti, who has worked on plenty of Marvel comics in the past, including Iron Man.

“We’re going to see the return of specialty armors, because I love those — and it gives Valerio a chance to design all kinds of new and exciting suits… We’ll be doing that while exploring high-concept sci-fi premises that lean in to the tech-based world of Tony Stark,” Slott said to CBR recently. “It’s going to get wonderfully weird, and it will build to big secret-y things in the Marvel Universe.”

Preview art for Tony Stark: Iron Man #1 shows Stark competing in a robotics competition, one which he loses handily. His disinterested foe – who uses the name Bhang Robotics in the competition – looks like he could be the comic’s antagonist, but not much info is revealed outside of the preview.

We do know that the comic will bring back a lot of gadgets and supporting cast members known to Iron Man in the past, including Bethany Cabe and Jocasta.

As of now, there is no release date for Tony Stark: Iron Man #1, but the aforementioned preview art is pasted below.
