It’s pretty easy to edit Facebook posts. While that’s handy when you’re doing the editing, it can trip you up if you’re replying to someone who will edit their post later. To avoid embarrassment or trolling, Facebook lets you see the edit history of any post that’s been changed.

To find the history on a Facebook post, click the arrow on the top right corner of any post.

In the dropdown menu, click View Edit History.

For edited comments, you’ll see the word Edited next to the time stamp for the comment. Click this to view the comment’s edit history.

In both cases, a box will appear showing each version of the old post or comment and when it was made.

Most of the time people edit comments or posts, it’s to correct a typo or fix a mistake, so this probably won’t be all that interesting. However, if you find that the replies to a post don’t make sense or if someone claims to have said one thing while everyone is responding to something different, check this edit history to see what they really said.

Users are able to edit Facebook posts even after they’ve been posted to their timeline. Once a public post is edited, everyone will be able to see its revision history.

Facebook Page authors and admins are also able to edit posts on a Page. Though anyone can see the post’s revision history after it was posted, only other authors and admins can see edits made before the post was published.

How to edit a post on Facebook

1. Go to Facebook.com or open up the Facebook app on your iPhone or Android phone and navigate to the post that you want to edit.

2. Select the “More” button to the right of the post, which looks like three horizontal dots.

3. Select “Edit Post.”

4. From here, you’ll be able to edit all aspects of your post, including the text, tags and check-ins, as well as add photos and videos, GIFs and feelings. You can also edit who can see the post by adjusting the public-facing settings at the bottom of the post-editing menu.

5. When you’re finished, hit “Save.”

6. Facebook saves each version of the post. To view a post’s history, select the “More” button and then hit “View edit history.”

If you find yourself often getting curious about edited posts or comments on Facebook. This guide will show you how to check the original unedited post which was made before it was edited.

When Facebook first launched its service back in 2004 any and all posts or comments users made were set in stone, unable to be changed. This however changed in September 2013 when Facebook finally introduced an option allowing users to edit any posts or comments they made.

In order to keep the context and transparency of posts and comments, the ability to view edited content was also added. Allowing anyone to compare the edited content, with the original post. Although 99% of people who are correcting a post are just fixing a typo or spelling mistake, it’s important to be able to view the editing history in case someone has changed the entire content of a post skewing the replies and subject.

Facebook’s original 2013 statement regarding post and comment editing reads:

“We’ll also be showing the editing history for a comment so that subsequent commenters or likers have the full context of the conversation.”

How to Edit Posts and Comments on Facebook

Editing a comment on Facebook is easy, all you have to do is click on the dots to the right of your comment and select Edit.

For posts you have made, you can click the drop down arrow to the far right of the post and select Edit Post from the options that appear.

Find and View the History of Edited Posts on Facebook.

To view the history of any edited post on Facebook, the process is almost as simple as editing your own post or comment. First, you will need to find a Facebook post or comment you think has been edited. Once you have found one you would like to check, click the arrow in the top right-hand corner of the post. From the drop down menu click View Edit History. (If you don’t see the option the post is in its original unchanged state)

For edited comments, you’ll see the word Edited next to the time stamp for the comment. All you need to do to view the original post is click Edited.

For both Posts and Comments, a small box will appear showing you the original post/comment and when it was made. While most people are generally only fixing typos or spelling mistakes, occasionally you might be able to catch someone out who is trying to change the context of their original comment.

What viewing edit history can’t do, however, is check any posts that have been deleted and reposted. More often than not users are aware of the ability to view changes made to their posts, so they will instead delete the post and comment again with their intended comment. Generally, you can spot deletions as replies don’t match well with the above comments. The only real way to catch someone out who has deleted and reposted a comment is to capture a screenshot of before and after.

Facebook allows you to edit a post after publishing. It may be a blessing for the absent-minded, who can easily clear their post from errors, however, it can also be troubling in some other situations. Like, you’d never know if someone posts something offensive about you and change it later, or you wont be able to use a post as proof if its content is changed after you last checked it.

Previously, if a post on Facebook was edited then “Edited” used to appear beside it, but some time ago Facebook took this feature away. However, there is still a way to verify whether a post is edited or not, and what was its original version.

Here are three simple steps to do so:

1. Locate the post you wanted to check and click the “Menu arrow” at the top right corner of post.
2. Click “More options” in the menu.

Sometimes you will see “View edit history” instead of “More options”. Click on it and you will see the original and edited versions of a post. However, if you see “More options” then proceed with Step 3.

Click “View edit history” to see the original and edited post. The original post will be on the top of the edited posts.

As Facebook turns 12, it’s growth continues to boom with more than 1.79 Billion active monthly users. For whatever reason, over the past few years, I’ve noticed that as the service has grown, more and more users are using the services as their personal soapbox, going off on rants on any number of subjects (sports, politics, society). In other words; a lot of arguing and trolling.

Sometimes people will edit their posts if they said something embarrassing or untrue. Previously you would know if a post was edited by looking for the ‘Edited’ label next to the post’s date. However, since Facebook is constantly redesigning its interface, the ‘Edited’ tag has been hidden. Here’s how to find it and see the edit history of the post.

Was that Facebook Post Edited?

First, click or tap the drop-down menu located at the upper-left corner and select View edit history.

That’s all there is to it! If a post has been edited, a new window will pop up with the edit history for you to check out (or take a screenshot of to prove your friend right or wrong). Keep in mind that your edits are visible to anyone who can view your posts.

So, if you want to go on an angry rant, it’s best to take a few minutes and calm down first.

It’s also worth mentioning that this works on both mobile and desktop versions (including the Windows 10 app) of Facebook. However, depending on the platform, menus will vary. For example, in the shot below I need to hit the More option to get to the edit history menu.

Share All sharing options for: Facebook no longer clearly labels edited posts

As writers, we all hate typos. When you make one on Facebook, you’re thankfully able to correct it no matter how long ago the post was shared. A recent update, however, will no longer clearly label if a post has been edited.

As reported by Mashable, previously, when a Facebook post has been updated from the original, you’ll see an “Edited” label next to the timestamp. Now, when users edit a post, it looks as though the post was originally written that way.

In order to check whether a post has changed, you need to click the drop-down menu on the top right corner of post and see if “View edit history” is available. Here’s an example of something I shared yesterday:

This post isn’t exactly what I wrote when I first published it! But you wouldn’t know that unless you navigate over to the drop down menu.

Clicking this brings up the full edit history. You also get a few more details about what exactly has changed, such an addition or removal of links.

Okay, so I only added a period for the sake of illustrating this change, but you see the point. On one hand, you’ll no longer feel the shame of the “Edited” label when you make an embarrassing typo and your fumble is there for everyone to peruse. On the other, this makes it a lot less transparent when something has been edited, because I bet your first inclination when looking at a widely shared Facebook post is not to check whether it had been edited. Note that this change does not appear to affect edited comments on a post.

We’ve all seen how viral Facebook posts can influence a nation, and not clearly labeling when something has changed could have a profound impact to how things are shared on the social network. Brands, government officials, and celebrities all use Facebook. Perhaps on a personal level, this won’t make a difference to you — but the ability to sneak around rewriting the past seems like an odd change given our current plight against misinformation.

Whatever you think of the shift, it’s still tons better than Reddit’s policy which allows you to edit a comment but does not make clear what about it has changed. Twitter still doesn’t offer an edit feature, though CEO Jack Dorsey did seem to be on board with eventually adding one.

Here’s a subtle change you may have noticed on Facebook. Recently, Facebook made a change to the way they display post edits.

Normally, when someone edits their post on Facebook, you’ll see an indicator like this signalling that the content has been updated.

But recently Facebook made an update removing this note.

For example, this post has been edited, but there’s nothing to indicate that up front.

But you can still find out if and how a post has been edited. To do this, you click/tap on the down arrow at the right, then select ‘View edit history’.

In there, you’ll get a full rundown of post edits and how it’s been changed.

The history also shows you how many Likes the post has received at each stage – so how many likes the post had before then after each edit.

And worth noting, the change does not affect comments – those are still showing an ‘Edited’ note, where relevant.

Why, exactly, Facebook is looking to hide edits is not 100% clear, though it runs somewhat in contrast to the concerns regularly raised by Twitter in regards to a possible edit tweets option.

Twitter’s concern is that given the brief messaging of tweets, even small edits can significantly alter the context, and by enabling editing, there could be problems with tweet embeds and the way people use tweets in their messaging – that re-tweet which once underlined your view, for example, could be changed to the opposite, leaving you providing an unintended endorsement.

In his recent discussion of the possibility of a tweet editing option, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey specifically noted that such an option would also cause implementation problems if they added a edit history log, which is something Facebook now seems to be putting more focus on, as opposed to a transparent edit note.

You’d suspect that Facebook’s data has shown that the majority of edits are only to correct grammar, and therefore removing the up front notation might save the author from embarrassment or questions about their intention – and given you can view the edit log anyway, there’s no real need to have such an obvious indicator.

If that is the case, then that might lessen Twitter’s opposition to such an option. Probably not, but if Facebook’s experience shows people don’t mis-use it, maybe that’s a consideration.

Either way, an interesting move – if you were wondering why you’re not seeing the ‘Edited’ tag anymore, and how to find out that detail, there it is.

Viewing a comment’s edit history details

Anyone with read access to a repository can view a comment’s edit history.

Navigate to the comment you’d like to view the edit history for.

At the top of the comment, click edited to open the edit history.

Deleting sensitive information from a comment’s history

Comment authors and anyone with write access to a repository can delete sensitive information from a comment’s edit history.

When you delete sensitive information from the comment’s edit history, the person who made the edit and when they made the edit is still visible in the comment history but the content of the edit is no longer available.

Navigate to the comment where you would like to delete sensitive information from the edit history.

At the top of the comment, click edited to open the edit history.

Note: If you don’t see the edited option, then the comment doesn’t have an edit history.

To view the details of a specific change, select it from the list of edits.

In the top right of the edit history window, click Options. Then click Delete revision from history to delete the diff that shows the content being added.

To confirm deletion, click OK.

To remove your name from another user’s photo tags, open the photo in question, click the “Options” link on the image, and select “Report/Remove Tags.” From here, you have two options: remove your name or report the photo to Facebook.

Facebook status updates, Timeline posts and comments are immediately visible to anyone you’ve approved to view them in your security settings, but you still have a few options if you second-guess yourself or realize that you’ve misspelled a word after you’ve hit “Post.” Typos in erroneous status updates and Timeline posts must be completely deleted and then edited and re-entered in a new update, but comments can be edited without erasing them entirely. Facebook adds a gray “Edited” notification to your comment and maintains the history of changes to preserve the context.

Deleting Status Updates and Wall Posts

Highlight the problematic update or post and press “Ctrl-C” to copy it to your clipboard. Alternately, you can right-click on the highlighted text and select “Copy” from the menu that pops up.

Hover over the post with your mouse then click the pen icon that appears in the top right corner.

Select “Delete” and then click “Delete” again when the windows pops up asking “Are you sure you want to delete this?”

Place your cursor in the text field of a new status update or Timeline post and then press “Ctrl-V” to paste it. Alternately, you can right-click in the text box and select “Paste.”

Edit the content to correct misspellings and then click “Post” to make it live.

Editing Comments

Hover over the problem comment and click the pencil icon that pops up in the top right corner.

Select “Edit” from the post to change the text or “Delete” to remove it entirely.

Make edits as needed and then press “Enter” to repost. Press “Escape” to exit the editing feature without making changes.

On iPhone, you’ll see a popup with:

How to edit a Facebook comment [history]

The ability to edit comments on Facebook debuted on June 21, 2012.

The article you’re now reading was published on June 22, 2012, and updated in August 2019.

Before comment editing was enabled, if you made a mistake, you had to remove comments from Facebook by clicking the “X” that appeared in the upper right when you hovered over the comment.

Wasn’t that annoying?

I’m a perfectionist and hate making typos, so I spent too much time removing comments and rewriting them.

In 2012, Facebook initiated the “Edit pencil” instead of the X.

Here’s how it worked way back then:

• Click on the Edit pencil icon and edit to your heart’s content.
• Hit “Return” to post your edited comment.
• Click “Esc” to cancel the edit, and your comment will stand unchanged.

The ability to edit comments was only available on computer for a time. It didn’t appear on Android devices until October 2013!

No more “Arggh! Copy, delete, paste, edit, post.” Facebook is now rolling out the ability to edit comments, but users will be able to see the full edit history of a thread. This is just one more feature that I really liked about Google+, since I could essentially live blog with it and fix my mistakes, but that Facebook has now too.

Facebook tells me comment editing is rolling out now and will become available to everyone in the next few days on the web. There’s no comment editing yet in Facebook’s embeddable comment widget for websites or from mobile yet where that damn auto-correct lurks. Also, you still can’t edit original posts, all of which would be much more helpful than this. But I guess if you have to say or spell something wrong, do it from your desktop on someone else’s news feed post.

Facebook made a step in the right direction a year ago when it let you edit comments within a few seconds of posting them so you could fix immediately recognized typos as seen below.

Now that time limit’s been lifted. So if you come back to a post later and see you spelled Philadelphia wrong, like I did in an article this morning (bollocks!), you can change it. And if you already had these new features, you were some of the lucky testers, and soon your friends will get comment editing too.

With the new Edit History, though, curious parties can investigate. So don’t go back and change your controversial point of view on to something more palatable or you could get called out. As soon as I get these features I’ll add screenshots.

We’re waiting to hear back from Facebook on whether comment editing will be available in its Comments Box social plugin, that many blogs including TechCrunch use to dissuade trolling.

This is all a step up from what’s currently available, which is copying your messed up comment, deleting it, starting a new comment, pasting, fixing, and posting. And when you comment something stupid or have an awful typo, your first inclination is to immediately delete it without copying, and then you have to pick your brain to reconstruct it.

While this update is less than groundbreaking, just like the emoticon menu it added to Chat yesterday, it makes Facebook more user friendly. Even shaving a few seconds off people’s commenting flows adds up at the scale of 900 million people.

The real question is whether Facebook will allow original post editing, which Google+ does. While useful, it could also let people retroactively change their opinions and cause subsequent comments to make no sense. Combined with Timeline, you could essentially go back and edit your whole life, which could make people overly self-conscious and nit-picky about what they’d said in the past.

World’s largest social network Facebook has introduced a new feature on its web and Android platforms that enables users to edit their posts even after sharing them, without losing the ‘likes’ and comments the posts have received. Previously, you had to delete a Facebook update and post it again if you wanted to make some changes to it. But by doing this, all the comments and ‘likes’ that particular post had received from friends and acquaintances were lost.

However, with the new feature in place, you can now edit a post for grammatical/linguistic/factual errors without affecting the comments and ‘likes’. You can also see the edit history underneath the update. But note that it allows editing only once (you will not be able to edit a post again and again). Also, you cannot delete the edited post now forever.

We checked the new feature and it worked fine. One thing we have noticed is that the edited history is visible to anyone who can see the post. This is intended to avoid pranks and trickery to a certain extent. For example, if you put a post ‘The new iPhone is awesome’ on Facebook and get all good comments and ‘likes’ from your friends, and then you feel like coning them by changing it into ‘The new iPhone sucks’, then those who have put the comments will feel awkward. But, with the edited history being made public they can at least see what editing the author has done in the post.

Last month, Facebook had announced that it would consider incorporating most of its more than 1 billion members’ profile photos into its growing facial recognition database, to improve the performance of its ‘tag suggest’ feature. This feature uses facial recognition technology to speed up the process of labelling or ‘tagging’ friends and acquaintances who appear in photos posted on the network.

Now more than ever, it’s important to curate what pops up on your social media feeds. Here’s how to delete Facebook posts from your Timeline one by one or in bulk.

Facebook is all too keen to remind you of the past. Remember that concert you went to three years ago? That person you friended nine years ago? That photo you snapped on vacation last decade? No worries; Facebook will make sure you never forget.

But now more than ever, it’s important to curate what pops up on your social media feeds, lest a potential employer or date stumble upon an ill-advised photo, comment, or like.

If you’re sick of cringing every time you log into Facebook, it might be time to rid your account of aging memes and reminders of your 2008-era frosted tips phase. You don’t have to nuke your entire account, though. Here’s a more civilized solution for social media cleanup.

Review Your Facebook Profile

First, it may be informative to see what your profile looks like to people who aren’t on your friends list. Go to your Facebook profile, open the three-dot menu next to the Edit Profile button (Add to Story on mobile), and click the View As “eye” icon. This will display your profile as it looks to the general public, by displaying everything on your profile that is set to Public.

Delete Facebook Posts

Facebook makes it easy to delete your old posts with the Activity Log. Go to your profile, click the three-dot menu, and select Activity Log. This will show you every action you, or another user, has taken on your Timeline, including reactions, shares, comments, tags, and posts. The results can be filtered by date or a specific person.

On desktop, you can scroll through all your past actions on Facebook, or choose a category under the Activity Types header to view your posts, tags, or interactions. Click the Timeline, Photo and Tag Review drop-down to filter specific tags. Mobile users must select nested categories to view posts, tags, interactions, and more specific actions.

When you come across something you want to remove, select the three-dot menu to delete, hide, or archive; unlike a comment; or remove tag. If you wish to remove multiple posts at a time, tick the box next to the actions, then select Archive or Trash on the top right.

Hide Facebook Posts

It’s possible to limit the visibility of old photos and posts by making them private instead of deleting them entirely. From your Timeline, click the ellipsis next to the post you want to hide, select Edit Audience (Edit Privacy on mobile), then select who should have permission to view the post. Choose Only me to hide it from everyone else. To only hide the post from certain people, select Friends except. or Specific friends. to include or exclude certain friends.

Facebook also has a tool to hide public Timeline posts en masse. To do this, click the arrow in the top-right corner of your profile and navigate to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Privacy. Click the Limit Past Posts link to open a warning advising that all your public posts will be converted to Friends only. If that’s okay, click the Limit Past Posts button and your public posts will only be visible to those on your friends list.

On mobile, tap the hamburger icon and select Settings & Privacy > Settings > Privacy Settings > Limit who can see past posts. Here, you can also edit how future posts will appear.

Download Your Facebook Data

Don’t want to lose your Facebook information forever? You can download a copy of your entire Facebook Timeline by navigating to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Your Facebook Information. Select the View link next to Download Your Information.

Choose what should and should not be included in the download, then click Create Files to download your Facebook information to your computer. Once a file is created, it can always be redownloaded from the Available Copies tab.

You have full control over your name and content on Facebook, whether on your own Timeline, previously known as your “wall,” or a friend’s. This control includes the ability to edit and delete comments you write on your friends’ Timelines. If, for example, you wrote a comment on a friend’s post and now regret what you wrote or think you could have worded it better, edit the comment or delete it entirely.

Step 1

Visit the Facebook website and log in to your Facebook account.

Step 2

Type your friend’s name in the “Search for People, Places and Things” box at the top and click his name when it appears below to go to his Timeline.

Step 3

Scroll down your friend’s Timeline to the post you commented on and move your mouse cursor over your comment. Click the pencil icon that appears on the right side of it.

Step 4

Click the “Edit” button and make the desired edits to your comment. Press the “Enter” key on your keyboard to finalize your edits. Note that your edit history will still be viewable if someone clicks the “Edited” link below your comment.

Step 5

Click the “Delete” button if you want to delete your comment completely. Click “Confirm” to finalize the comment deletion.

O n the Media Except, as it turns out, those tiny fixes and changes aren’t so secret after all. Anyone who can see your post can see a full history of its edits. All they have to do is click the gray text that reads “Edited” at the bottom of your comment, just to the left of the “Like” button.

When should I edit posts?

Any time you see a post that needs improvement and are inclined to suggest an edit, you are welcome to do so. The original author of a question or answer may always edit their own post, regardless of reputation level.

Edits are expected to be substantial and to leave the post better than you found it. Common reasons for edits include:

• To fix grammar and spelling mistakes
• To clarify the meaning of the post (without changing that meaning)
• To include additional information only found in comments, so all of the information relevant to the post is contained in one place
• To correct minor mistakes or add updates as the post ages
• To add related resources or hyperlinks

What happens when I edit a post?

The post will be updated to show the latest editor, as well as the original author. All edits are saved and tracked in a public revision history with attribution to each editor.

The revision history can be viewed by clicking the date and time next to the edited post (e.g., “edited 3 days ago”).

Editing a post also bumps the question to the top of the homepage.

Who makes sure that proposed edits are good?

Any user can propose edits, but not all edits are publicly visible immediately. If a user has less than 2,000 reputation, the suggested edit is placed in a review queue. Two accept or reject votes are required to remove the suggested edit from the queue and either apply the edit to the post or discard it. Users with more than 2,000 reputation are considered trusted community members and can edit posts without going through the review process.

What happens if someone suggests a bad edit?

If a user without edit privileges proposes an edit that does not comply with the guidelines above, it is ordinarily rejected in the review process. Even if a bad edit is applied to a post, other users will generally fix it. Users with sufficient reputation may elect to roll back the post to a previous version (by viewing the revision history of the post and selecting the version they would like to display).

Additionally, any user who submits many rejected edits will be banned from suggesting further edits for 7 days.

What is a rollback?

A rollback reverts a question or answer to a previous version in the edit history. The rollback action itself then appears as the most recent item in the edit history.

While Twitter is still contemplating whether the site needs an editing feature, Facebook has made it easier for people to save face while editing their posts on the social media networking website. Facebook has now removed the on-post ‘edited’ label that the site used to show earlier to let viewers know a particular post had been edited.

The site has not removed edit history, though the removal of the label means it’s easier for users to overlook the changes made to a post, as noted first by Mashable. Users can still access the edit history on posts by going through the drop-down menu on the post. On being contacted by Mashable, Facebook representatives acknowledged that the website is using a different editing system than before but the change was made a year ago – implying it took a while before the change was visible to all users.

Earlier, Facebook used to show an ‘edited’ label next to the time stamp whenever any change was made to the post. However, now users will be able to correct their small cringe-worthy mistakes without any noticeable stamp that can trigger users to search for the mistake made in the original post. Notably, the edited label next to a comment can still be seen whenever any changes are made to a comment.

It will be interesting to see if the social media networking giant gives similar treatment to the changes made in comments as well going ahead. Editing is an option that has often created a divide when it comes to social media networking platforms.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey recently admitted that the website needs an editing feature but expressed concerns regarding the implementation. While minor changes like grammatical errors are not an issue, as these platforms are often used for consumption of news, it can become a huge problem if changes are made without any responsibility or acknowledgement.

Everyone makes mistakes sometimes—or needs to make important additions or updates. You can make changes to any message that you’ve posted to Yammer, no matter what type of message it is or content it contains.

Find your post that you want to edit.

At the bottom of the post, click Edit.

Edit is only available on your own posts.

Tip: To delete a post, select the More icon , and then click Delete.

Make the changes that you want to your message and click Save.

Edited appears at the top of the message.

Anyone who can see a message can see any previous versions:

At the top of the message, click Edited.

An Edit History box with previous versions appears.

Click the X in the upper-right corner to dismiss the Edit History box.

Limitations

Editing a post is not available for Yammer external groups.

The ability to change attachments (files and images) is not currently supported.

Facebook appears to have quietly done away with a feature that tells you if a particular post has been edited. As it stands now, the only way that you’ll be able to determine something has changed is by clicking on the edit history option, which will only show if an edit has been made and is available in the post menu option.

Reports of this missing element first surfaced in late December, around the time when there was discussion about whether Twitter should implement an editing feature. Honolulu Civil Beat social media manager Anthony Quintano and former Uber developer evangelist Chris Messina noticed the lack of an editing notifier. Previously, if you edited a Facebook post, there would be a label affixed telling readers that there had been a change.

As mentioned earlier, while the “Edited” tag has been removed, if you know that a Facebook post has changed, you can click on the drop-down menu on the individual update and select “Edit History.” You’re only going to see this if the post has been modified in some way. However, it’s interesting that there is an edit history to begin with.

Comments appear to be unaffected by this, as any updates still include an “Edited” label. This seems to be an issue on both the web and Facebook’s mobile app, regardless of whether you’re verified.

It’s unclear why Facebook has removed this tag from its social network. It could cause some significant issues when you factor in how brands, government officials, celebrities, and other personalities may use this. What impact could it have if you didn’t know if something had been changed?

We’ve reached out to Facebook for comment and will update if we hear back.

So, how many photos, updates, web pages, and other online items have you liked on Facebook? A few dozens? Hundreds? Maybe even (gulp) thousands?

If you’ve lost track of your various Facebook likes over the years, a quick trip to your “Activity Log” on Facebook will jog your memory. Want to “unlike” an old “like,” or hide a liked Facebook fan page from your profile? You can do that, too.

Here’s what you do…

You can unlike anything you’ve previously “liked” using Facebook’s Activity Log.

On iOS or Android

First, visit your Facebook profile. Tap the three-line menu button in the corner of the screen (the bottom-right corner for iOS, or the top-right for Android), then tap your name at the top of the menu.

Next, tap the Activity Log button just below your profile image; doing so will take you to a screen with a long list of months and years. Tap one, and you’ll see a log of all your activity on Facebook for that particular date range.

Since we only want to see “likes,” we’re going to do a little filtering. Tap the Filter button near the top of the screen, then tap Likes.

Now, back at the main Activity Log screen, tap a date to see everything you “liked” in a given month or year. To unlike something, tap the little down-arrow on the right side of an item, then tap Unlike. If the thing you liked was a Facebook fan page, you’ll also have the option to hide the “like” from your timeline.

With a little help from the Activity Log, you can hide a “liked” Facebook fan page from your profile.

On a desktop

Just as on mobile, the first step to viewing all your Facebook likes is to visit your profile page. To get there, tap your name in the blue stripe at the top of any Facebook page.

Once you’ve reached your profile, click the View Activity Log button to the right of your profile image. To filter your log so you’re only seeing the stuff you liked, click the Likes button in the left column of the screen.

See all your Facebook likes? Perfect. To unlike something, click the little Edit button (the one that looks like a pencil) on the right side of an item’s entry—and just as you can on mobile, you’ll have the option to hide a liked Facebook fan page from your profile.

Facebook has brought some much-needed functionality to the iPhone: post and comment editing! According to today’s update, Facebook users can now edit their posts and comments, and tap to see their changes.

The update also gives users the option to insert a photo as part of a comment on a post from their mobile phone.

Additionally, the update includes:

• Express yourself with icons when you post to someone’s timeline (in English only)
• Get to privacy shortcuts by tapping the lock by your name in the main menu
• Bug fixes

To edit a post, go to that post in your timeline and then tap the small icon in the upper right corner to reveal the post menu, giving you options to Delete, Edit Post, View Edit History and more. Tapping on Edit Post will bring you into the familiar edit mode, and you won’t be able to save until you’ve made some change. Saving will immediately change your live post accordingly, and add an “Edited” tag to the timestamp of the post.

To add a comment to a post, tap the Comment icon and then tap the Camera icon to the left of the comment text field, giving you access to your Camera Roll and Albums. If you haven’t already, you may need to grant Facebook permission to access your Pictures.

There is a lot of talk about the possibility of editing tweets on Twitter at the moment, but an editing function has been available on Facebook for ages. With the ability to edit posts that people can comment on come concerns, and with this in mind Facebook has always let you know when a post you’re reading has been amended. Until now.

Without warning, the label which advised of edits has vanished. This means that it is now possible to make surreptitious changes to posts and many people will be completely unaware of what you have done.

Towards the end of last month, some Facebook users started to notice that edited posts no longer featured an obvious label advertising that changes had been made. It’s not an immediately obvious change to the social network, so it’s little wonder that word is only just starting to spread.

While in the past edited posts would feature a prominent ‘edited’ label, you now have to do rather more detective work to see whether the post you’re reading is the original, or an amended version. If you want to find out if a post has been edited, you need to click on the drop down menu to the upper right of the post you’re interested in. If the post has been edited, you’ll see an option at the bottom of the menu labeled ‘View edit history’; click this and you can browse through the changes that have been made.

This is something of a worrying change for Facebook. Although it is still possible to tell when a post has been edited, it seems counter-intuitive to not let people know of edits in an obvious way. At a time when Facebook claims to be concerned about fake news and accountability, it seems like an odd change to introduce — even more odd that users would not be told about it.
