That’s how you enable the Save as PDF context menu command in Microsoft Edge. Again, this feature is available starting in Build 94.0.974.0, and is under controlled feature roll-out.
Note that Microsoft is rolling out the “Save as PDF” feature to a limited set of Edge Insiders as a part of controlled feature rollout. If you cannot find the new option, wait for a couple of days, then check again. Alternatively, you can always save a page as a PDF file using the built-in “Print to PDF” printer. That feature is available in all Microsoft Edge channels and versions.

Microsoft Edge will soon be getting a new update that will make it easier to save webpages as PDFs. The feature is currently being tested as part of an A/B test effort, and it is now rolling out to select Insiders running Edge Canary (as spotted by Reddit user Leopeva64-2).
The new Microsoft Edge browser comes with a built-in PDF tool that allows users to view or edit documents and save a copy of a web page as a PDF file. As of today, and users need to use the print function for saving webpages and the process is a bit complicated for some users.
The Redmond giant is now planning to address this issue by introducing a new “Save as PDF” feature in its Edge browser. The latest Microsoft Edge Canary update (version 94.0.974.0) now lets users add an option to the context menu that brings the ability to save any web page as a PDF document with a single click.
To try out this feature, you will need to go to Settings >> Appearance and then turn on the “Show Save as PDF in Context Menu” toggle. Once enabled, open the webpage you want to save as PDF, right-click on it to open the context menu. Finally, select the “Save as PDF” option to export the web page into a PDF document.
Although it is still in testing, the “Save as PDF” experience could be particularly useful for situations when users need to save a particular webpage to read it later or share specific information with several people. That said, the feature appears to be rolling out gradually, and it could be a while before it makes it to the general public. The core of a web page is a file written in Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Typically, the HTML file includes associations with other files that either appear on the web page or govern how it looks or works.
When you convert a web page to PDF, the HTML file and all associated files—such as JPEG images, Adobe FLA files, cascading style sheets, text files, image maps, and forms—are included in the conversion process.
The resulting PDF behaves much like the original web page. For example, the images, links, image maps, and most media files appear and function normally within the PDF. (Animated GIF files appear as still images, showing the last frame of the animation.)
Also, the PDF functions like any other PDF. For example, you can navigate through the file by scrolling or using bookmarks; users can add comments to it; you can add security, form fields, and other features that enhance it.
In preparing to convert web pages to PDF, consider the following factors, which affect how you approach the conversion process:
How much do you want to convert?
If you want to convert only selected areas of the currently open web page, use PDFMaker from within Internet Explorer . If you want to convert several levels or all of a multipage website to PDF, work within Acrobat.
Do you want to create a new PDF from the web pages or to append the converted pages to an existing PDF?
You can do both in either Acrobat or Internet Explorer , but you choose different buttons or commands to accomplish these things.
To convert Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) language web pages to PDF on a Roman (Western) system in Windows, you must have installed the CJK language support files while installing Acrobat. Also, it is preferable to select an appropriate encoding from the HTML conversion settings.
Acrobat installs an Adobe PDF toolbar in Internet Explorer (version 8.0 or later), Google Chrome, and Firefox. Using the commands on this toolbar, you can convert the currently displayed web page to PDF in various ways. For example, you can convert the entire web page or selected areas of it. Or, you can create a PDF or append the converted web page to an existing PDF. The toolbar has additional commands that initiate further actions after conversion, such as attaching the new PDF to a new email message or printing it.

Using Windows registry is one way to force all users on the system to use external PDF application. There are multiples ways to do this in Windows, however, using Windows registry is the easiest and most effective way to do it.
To enable, press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the run command box. Or use the search function to search for the Run app.
In the command box, type the commands below and press Enter.
When Windows registry opens, navigate to the path below. If you don’t see the Edge key, create one.
From there, right-click on the Edge key and select the New > DWORD (32-bit) Value option to create a REG_DWORD value if you don’t see existing AlwaysOpenPdfExternally value already created.
If you don’t see Edge key or folder, create one.
Name the new DWORD value as:
After saving the DWORD above, double-click it to open. Then enter the value of 0 to disable and 1 to enable.
0 = Force disabled
1 = Force enabled

Searched many sites for how to make Edge open pdf’s by default. This is the only one that had a solution that worked. Microsoft changed the Cookies and Site permissions page to no longer have the setting to change, but the link you gave to get to that place worked. Thanks so much

Prepare your source file

That’s all there is to it. Now moving forward, Microsoft Edge will download the PDF files you click online instead of opening them.
The files will download to the default Downloads folder on your local system unless you have changed the Microsoft Edge downloads location. You can find the file quickly after downloading it by clicking the Options button (three dots) at the bottom of the Microsoft Edge bar that shows the downloaded PDF file. Then select “Show in folder” from the menu.

Step 3: At the Print dialog, select Microsoft Print to PDF as the printer.
Step 4: In the Pages drop-down box, select Page range, enter the page number that you want to extract and then click the Print button.
For instance, if you want to extract page 3 of a PDF file, enter 3 in the box. If you want to extract page 3 and 5, type 3, 5 in the box.
Step 5: Select a location to save the extracted PDF file, enter a name for the new extracted page of the PDF and then click the Save button. That’s it! Needless to say to that extracted page will be saved with PDF extension only.
If you extract two or more pages at a time, all pages will be combined and saved as one PDF file. So, if you want them as separate files, please extract only one page at a time.

Microsoft Edge will now make it easier to save pages as a PDF
Saving web pages as PDFs will soon be even easier in Microsoft Edge as the company is working on adding a new option to the settings menu of its browser.
As reported by MSpoweruser and first spotted by Leo Verla, a new option is coming to Edge’s settings menu that will enable users to add “Save as PDF” to the browser’s Context Menu.

While the content of webpages can change frequently, saving them as PDF files can be a great way to keep a copy of an article or blog post for research purposes.
In a recent post on Reddit, Leo Verla showed some screenshots of Edge’s new “Save as PDF” feature and explained that Microsoft has also brought back the “mini-menu and the built-in dictionary” to insider versions of its browser.
Being able to right click to save web pages as a PDF will likely save Edge users a lot of time as they previously had to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P to bring up the browser’s print menu and choose “Microsoft Print to PDF” to do so.
While this new feature is currently available in Edge Canary Build 94.0.974.0 as part of a controlled feature rollout, it should arrive in stable versions of Microsoft’s browser in the next several months.

This article explains how to save a PDF page using Preview on Mac and Smallpdf. The instructions for Microsoft Word and Chrome are similar to Preview.
How To Save a Single Page of a PDF
There are multiple methods for saving one page of a PDF, but we’re focusing on the most general options so that you can do it with minimal hassle, regardless of the device you’re using.
This method requires a PDF editing program. If you use a Mac, you already have one in the form of Preview. Microsoft Word will also work, as well as Google Chrome. Alternatively, there are many free PDF editors available.
Open the PDF file in your PDF editor.
We’re using MacOS’s Preview in our screenshots but the steps are very similar in other apps.
Click File > Print.
Choose the page you want to save from the PDF file.
Click PDF > Save As PDF.
Some apps may require you to choose from the list of available printers and pick PDF instead of a physical device.
Choose where to save the file.
Click Save.
Your one page PDF is now saved in a new location.
Other Options for PDF Single Page Extractions
Wondering how to save a single page of a PDF without having to install software? Fortunately, you can easily save one page of a PDF via an online app like Smallpdf.
This method only allows you to extract two pages per day for free, but it’s a good short term solution.
Go to the Split PDF tool on the Smallpdf site.
Click Choose Files.
Find the file you need and click Choose.
Click Extract pages.
Click Extract.
Click the page you want to save from your original PDF.
Click Extract.
Click Download to save the file to your computer.
Limitations to Saving One Page of a PDF
Splitting up a PDF can involve a few restrictions. Here’s what you need to know:
- These methods won’t work on a read-only PDF. If your PDF file has been set to Read-Only, you can’t edit it. That means you also can’t divide it up into individual pages. You’ll need to either edit it yourself or ask the creator of the file to change it for you.
- Splitting up a PDF won’t circumvent password protection. Got a password protected PDF? You’ll need to know the password to be able to edit the file and split it up appropriately.
- Get permission from the owner of the PDF. PDFs tend to be important documents and it’s a good idea to gain permission from the creator of the PDF before splitting it up. It’s not essential in all cases, but it’s simply good manners.
To convert a Word document to PDF, go to File > Save As. Name the file, select the File Format drop-down, and choose PDF > Save. Or, go to File > Export > Create PDF/XPS Document, select the Create PDF/XPS Document button, name it, and click Publish.
To save a web page as a PDF in Chrome, select Menu (three dots) > Print; in the Destination section, select Change and choose Save as PDF. In Firefox, select Menu (three lines) > Print. Select the PDF drop-down and choose Save as PDF.
To save email as a PDF, use your email client’s print function. After selecting Print, change your printer to a PDF printing option. Depending on your email client, it may say Save as PDF, Microsoft Print to PDF, or something similar.
The Microsoft Edge WebView2 control allows you to embed web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) in your native apps. The WebView2 control uses Microsoft Edge as the rendering engine to display the web content in native apps.
With WebView2, you can embed web code in different parts of your native app, or build all of the native app within a single WebView2 instance.

Save webpage as PDF file in Edge Browser
While browsing the web or reading an article on a website, we often come across a webpage that we need to save for offline research or sharing with someone for other purposes. Normally, you can just choose to copy and paste the link, but if you have the clutter-free image of the page, it even becomes easier to view it offline, mark up, or get a printed copy of it. The most flexible way to get all this done is to readily convert the page into a PDF file. Here’s how to do it!
- Open the Microsoft Edge web browser
- Visit the webpage you want to save as a PDF
- From there, click on the three-dotted menu button
- Then navigate to Print.
- Finally, select Save as PDF
- Make sure to choose the correct layout options.
- When you’re done, click on the Save button.
That should do it for saving webpages as PDF in Edge.
For most browsers, like Edge, the Print function happens to be the most effective way to save a webpage to PDF.
Go to ‘Settings and more‘ menu and select ‘Print‘ option. (Or simplye press Ctrl+P to bring it up)
In the new Print window that opens, hit the drop-down window under ‘Printer‘ heading.

Microsoft released the Edge browser based on Chromium kernel in 2020, and then every month Microsoft will provide feature updates for the new version of Edge browser, which is a web-based product to which Microsoft attaches considerable importance.
Currently, Edge browser has very good support for PDF reading, such as support for PIDF editor, support for PDF password generator, support for vertical tabs, better control of tracking or notification, etc. Now, Edge browser has a new feature improvement in PDF.
Now you can capture full page for PDF
In early 2021, Microsoft added a screenshot feature in Edge browser, which allows users to take screenshots of web pages. However, the function does not support PDF documents, and now Microsoft has started to improve the function to make it work for PDF.
It is understood that Microsoft did not develop a new screenshot tool for PDF alone, but decided to improve the screenshot function of the Edge browser now to achieve support for PDF. From Edge Canary version 99.0.1111.0, you can take a full-screen screenshot of PDF documents with multiple pages.
How to capture screenshot of PDF using Edge
If you want to experience the feature first, then you need to download the Canary version of Edge browser, and then you can find the corresponding option. After opening a PDF document, click the browser menu and select Screenshot to open the screenshot tool, which allows you to capture the content of the PDF document.
Of course, you can also use Ctrl + Shift + S shortcut keys to activate the screenshot tool. You can select the area you want to capture in the screenshot process, and once you have taken the screenshot, another menu will pop up for adding comments. Users can also paint on the screenshot with various colors, which is very convenient.
At present, Edge browser’s function of PDF screenshot is still in the testing stage, and the function may be officially released in January or February next year, when users will be able to test it fully.
In addition, Microsoft also carries out a big upgrade related to Windows clipboard for the new Edge browser. According to the media, Microsoft’s documents show that the new API allows users to copy and paste a wide variety of files between the browser and local applications in Windows 10 or Windows 11. However, it has not yet been determined when the feature will go live.

PDF files are great for transferring around and reading on different devices but managing them can be a pain. And in some instances, they can be quite large. That clogs up drive space and makes it difficult to send to friends or colleagues. Case in point, maybe you get a huge PDF file with tons of pages, but you don’t need them all. In fact, out of 1,000 pages, you might need one or two or a select series of pages. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here is a neat trick you can use to extract just one page you need from the file.
Extract Only the Page(s) You Need from a PDF File
Removing the individual page or pages you need doesn’t require any special software. Although, apps like Adobe Acrobat or Wondershare PDFelement Pro cab handle it. This can actually be done with just the PDF file, and your browser since any modern browser like Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge can open PDFs. The idea here is similar to using the Print to PDF option.
Open the PDF you need the page or pages from in your browser. Here I’m using Chrome. If you’re using a different browser, the options will vary, but the idea is the same. Once the file is open, click the Print icon from the browser’s toolbar.
Now in the print dialog page, make sure the destination is set to Save as PDF, and below that, you will have the option to Customize the pages you want. For Chrome, set it to Custom and then plug in the specific page or pages you want to save as a new PDF. For instance, if you only want one page, type in that page number. You can also select a page range, i.e., 6-9, or various pages throughout the document such as 6-9, 11, 15. Once you have the pages you need to be typed in, click the Save button.
Choose a location to store the new document and give it a name, and that’s it. When you open your new PDF file, you’ll only have the page or pages you selected. Now that you’ve got what you need, you can delete the original or keep it archived as a backup.

Signing a PDF is something many of us have to do at some point, but most web browsers and apps make it difficult or cost money. With the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge, singing a PDF is easy and free.

Open Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge is included with Windows 10 & 11.

Press Ctrl + O. Select a PDF file and click Open. If you just want to try it out, you can download a sample PDF here.
Click on the pen icon on the top toolbar, so it’s highlighted blue.
Click on the arrow down button to choose a color and font thickness.
Click anywhere on the PDF document and begin signing.
When finished, click on the Save or Save as button to save your signed PDF.
I have a password protected PDF file that I had created few months back. I know the password of the PDF file, but I now want to remove the password so that I can open the PDF file without entering the password. If you are also looking for an easy way to remove the known password from a PDF file, you have come to the right place.
You don’t need an expensive third-party program to remove the known password from PDF files. In other words, you can easily remove password from PDF files if you know the password!
The built-in Print to PDF feature in Windows 10 enables you save documents as PDF. Using this feature, you can remove password from PDF. You can also use Google Chrome browser and Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 to remove password from PDF files.
Method 1 of 4
Using the built-in Print to PDF feature to remove PDF password
If you are on Windows 8 or Windows 7, please refer to the directions in Method 2 of this article.
Step 1: Open the PDF file (whose password you want to remove) with any web browser or any other application that supports opening PDF. We are opening the PDF file with Firefox, but you can open it with any PDF reader program.
Step 2: When you are asked to enter the PDF file password, please enter the same to open the PDF file. In case you have forgotten the password, please try out third-party programs mentioned in Method 4 of this article.
Step 3: Once the PDF file is opened, hit Ctrl + P keys to see the Print dialog.
Step 4: Select Microsoft Print to PDF from the list of printers, click Print/OK button, select a location to save the PDF file and then click Save button to save the PDF file without the password.
You can now open the newly created PDF file without entering the password. You may delete the old password protected PDF file now.

Remove password from PDF using Google Chrome
Step 1: Open the PDF file with Google Chrome browser. Type the password when asked to do so.
Step 2: After opening the PDF file, right-click anywhere on it, click Save as option, select a location to save the PDF file and then click Save button to save the PDF file without the password. Simple as that!

Step 1: Open the PDF file with Microsoft Edge and enter the password when asked.
Step 2: Right-click anywhere on the PDF content, click Save as, choose a location to save the new PDF file (without the password) and then click Save button.

This article describes the protected PDF readers that are supported for Azure Information Protection (AIP). Protected PDF readers enable users to open those encrypted PDFs and view the sensitive information contained.
Encrypting your PDFs with AIP ensures that unauthorized people cannot read the file’s content. Protected PDF readers that support AIP verify that you’ve been granted permissions to open the document, and also decrypt the content for you.
For example, the following image shows an encrypted document open in Adobe Acrobat Reader. The bar at the top indicates that the document is protected by a Microsoft Information Protection solution.

ISO standards for PDF encryption
The PDF readers referenced on this page can all open protected documents that adhere to the ISO standard for PDF encryption.
This standard is used by default by the AIP client.
Viewing protected PDFs in Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe Acrobat Reader integrates with Microsoft Information Protection solutions, such as Azure Information Protection to provide users with a simplified and consistent experience for classified and/or protected PDFs.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader with Microsoft Information Protection integration is supported for Windows and macOS.

Microsoft Edge offers built-in support for viewing PDF files that are classified and protected. Use of Microsoft Edge ensures that users can open protected PDF files seamlessly without the need to install or configure any extra settings or software.

Support for previous formats

When Microsoft announced extension support for its Edge browser, hopes were high that this would give the browser a much needed boost to close the productivity gap to Chrome or Firefox.
The initial release in 2016, with the Anniversary Update, pushed a handful of extensions to the Store. Not a lot happened afterwards though; there was a trickle of new extensions that Microsoft published via the Windows Store, but nothing substantial and altogether less in the eight or so months since then, than what gets released for Chrome or Firefox in a couple of days.
PrintFriendly and PDF for Microsoft Edge
PrintFriendly and PDF for Microsoft Edge is the latest browser extension for Edge. It is a port of the popular Print Friendly extension for Chrome and Firefox.
The extension supports several features that push it past Edge’s own Reading View feature which converts web pages to print friendly pages for better accessibility and printing.
PrintFriendly and PDF offers that functionality, only better. The extension adds an icon to the menu on installation which you can click on to activate its functionality. You can move the icon from the menu to the main toolbar by right-clicking on it in the menu, and selecting the “show next to address bar” option.
The extension cuts all the excess fat of the website in question when activated, so that you end up with the main article only in the end.
It displays print, pdf and email buttons at the top, and hides its other functionality behind a menu icon.
If you click on that, you may increase or decrease the text size of the article, and switch from displaying full size images to large/medium/small images, or no images at all.
Another feature that PrintFriendly and PDF ships with is the ability to remove page elements. Simply hover the mouse cursor over an element, for instance an image, paragraph of text, or other data such as the page’s publication date, and hit the “click to delete” option that appears.
The element is removed instantly from the page. Note that you can undo the changes that you make by clicking on menu and selecting the undo option that is displayed there.
You may print what you see on the screen, or save the content to a PDF file instead. The only other option is to email the article to a recipient. The latter did not work during tests on the system I tried the extension on though.
Closing Words
PrintFriendly and PDF extends Edge’s own Reader View mode by giving your more control over what is displayed on the screen. It is not really needed if you find Reader View satisfactory already.

Since the release of the original Chromium-based Edge in 2020, Microsoft has been updating Windows 11’s default browser with new features almost every month. The browser has received support for a feature-rich PDF editor, password generator, vertical tabs, better control over tracking or notifications and more.
In early 2021, Microsoft Edge added support for a feature called Web Capture which lets you easily take full page screenshots of websites. Microsoft began working on an improved version of Web Capture after receiving feedback from users who said the feature should be updated to work with PDF documents.
Instead of developing another screenshot tool for PDFs, Microsoft decided to improve the existing implementation of Edge’s Web Capture. Starting with Edge Canary Version 99.0.1111.0, it is now possible to take full-page screenshots of PDF documents having several pages.
In order to test out Web Capture for PDF, you’ll first need to download the Canary build of Microsoft Edge, and then wait for the feature to automatically show up on your device.
Once you’ve updated the browser, open a PDF and visit the browser’s menu by clicking on “three dots” and selecting “Web Capture”. Similar to how Edge handles screenshots for web pages, this feature will also open a selection tool that would allow you to capture the content of PDF documents.
Of course, you can also use Ctrl+Shift+S to open the Web Capture selection tool and take a snap of PDF pages. You’ll need to select the area (pages or parts of pages) you want to capture in the screenshot. Once you’re done, another menu will appear allowing you to copy the capture or add notes.
You can draw on the screenshots using a variety of different colours (works best with a stylus, but the cursor is also supported).
As we mentioned at the outset, Microsoft is still testing Edge’s Web Capture support for PDF documents. The feature will be released officially in January or Feb when users would have tested it thoroughly.
Additionally, Microsoft is also working on a big Windows clipboard upgrade for Chromium Edge and Google Chrome. As per documents seen us, Microsoft’s new API will allow users to copy and paste a wide variety of files between the browser and native apps on Windows 10 or Windows 11.
