West was wed to his wife Terri. West said that he had been diagnosed with brain lymphoma on June 16, 2021, and that he has started treatment. Mike Tenay said on December 30, 2022, that West, who was 59 years old, had passed away from lymphoma. On that night’s SmackDown episode, WWE commentator Michael Cole paid tribute to him; also, a tribute to him was shown on that night’s AEW Rampage.
