DID VECNA CREATE THE MIND FLAYER IN STRANGER THINGS?

*WARNING: There are spoilers coming for the fourth season of Stranger Things*

Fans of Stranger Things have been exposed to increasingly dangerous monsters with each new season of the show. Season 4 raised the standard with its latest enemy, Vecna, who was introduced in that season.

In the fourth season, the monster goes on a murderous rampage, focusing his attention on vulnerable young people who have had some kind of tragedy in their lives.

It is also revealed that Vecna had a hand in the creation of the horrible Mind Flayer, which was the terrifying entity that threatened Hawkins in the third season of Stranger Things.

VECNA IN THE FOURTH SEASON OF STRANGER THINGS

In season 4 of “Stranger Things,” Vecna emerges as the new antagonist.

The maimed creature does not waste any time in revealing himself as, at the end of episode 1, he proceeded to fulfill his nefarious plot by brutally killing Chrissy Cunningham. This occurs immediately after the introduction of the creature.

As the season progressed, Vecna’s murderous rampage intensified, and he turned his attention to other troublesome adolescents, namely Fred Benson and Patrick McKinney.

Vecna also made an attempt to kill Max Mayfield in volume 1, but the Hawkins gang was able to figure out that music can stop him, which prevented Vecna from killing Max on his initial try. Vecna also attempted to kill Max Mayfield in volume 2.

It is revealed in volume 2 that Vecna is attempting to open four gates from the Upside Down into our world in order to cause chaos throughout Hawkins.

Eleven finds out that the orderly she befriended at the lab, Peter Ballard, was actually someone named Henry Creel through a sequence of flashbacks. The rest of the Hawkins gang had also been investigating Henry Creel.

Henry was another powerful being who committed murder against his own family when he was a boy. He later became subject number one in the tests conducted by Dr. Martin Brenner at Hawkins Lab.

Eleven was under the impression for a long time that she was the one who was responsible for the deadly massacre that took place at the lab. However, in season 4, it is revealed that Henry was the one who carried out the attack and hoped to recruit Eleven so that they could destroy all of humanity together.

Henry Creel was exiled to the Upside Down, where over the course of several years he was transformed into the twisted and mutilated creature that we now know as Vecna, after Eleven rejected his proposal, which led to a confrontation between the pair that ended with Eleven banishing Henry Creel to the Upside Down.

IN STRANGER THINGS WAS VECNA RESPONSIBLE FOR CREATING THE MIND FLAYER?

In the conclusion of the fourth season of Stranger Things, it is revealed that Vecna was the one who was responsible for the creation of the Mind Flayer, the dangerous monster that the gang battled in the third season.

In episode 9, Vecna describes his time spent alone in the Upside Down to Eleven. He goes on to say that he encountered a variety of animals in this new world, one of which being the Demogorgon.

Vecna is also seen discovering a massive, throbbing black cloud in the sky that is made up of particles from the Upside Down. Using his abilities, Vecna moulds the cloud into the creature known as the Mind Flayer.

At the same time, a flashback from Vecna’s infancy as Henry Creel reveals that he drew an image of the same creature when he was younger. This demonstrates that he was meant to bring harm to Hawkins from an early age.

This revelation also proves that Vecna has been manipulating events from within the Upside Down from the very beginning, making it possible for Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer to go to our world.

After the release of volume 2 on Friday, July 1st, 2022, all episodes of Stranger Things season 4 are currently streaming in their entirety on Netflix.
