Did Ann die in Alice In Borderland season 2?

Before Squid Game captivated Netflix fans in September 2021, the Japanese series Alice In Borderland had already been enthralling viewers with its own series of deadly challenges.
The series follows a host of unlucky players who are dragged into a post-apocalyptic version of Tokyo to compete in a series of games represented by different playing cards.
One of those players is a young woman named Ann who plays an increasingly important part as the episodes progress.
Like many of the other characters in Alice In Borderland, Ann is placed in considerable danger throughout the series but did she die by the end of season 2?
Who is Ann in Alice In Borderland?
Played by actress Ayaka Miyoshi, Ann was a forensic scientist for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police before she entered the Borderlands.
She is introduced in episode 5 of season 1 and is quickly shown to be a highly intelligent player who attempts to use rational thinking in her efforts to win the various games.
Ann is a high-ranking member of the Beach, the organization formed by the Hatter and other surviving players in an effort to work together in their attempts to collect all of the cards needed to escape the Borderland.
During the Ten of Hearts game, Ann learns that she can trust her fellow player Kuina and over the course of the series, the pair start to form a close bond.
What happens to Ann in season 2?
In episode 7 of Alice In Borderland season 2, Ann and several other players find themselves in a deadly battle against the King of Spades.
The brutal mercenary kills countless players and leaves many of the main characters injured as they team up in an effort to bring him down.
After a thrilling action scene involving most of the surviving characters, Aguni, Heiya, Kuina and Ann are all left with severe wounds after their run-in with the King of Spades, leaving only Arisu and Usagi strong enough to face the final challenge, the Queen of Hearts.
Ann was shot several times by the King of Spades, leaving her badly wounded to the point where she does appear to die in the final moments of episode 7.
Did Ann die in Alice In Borderland season 2?
No, Ann is not dead by the end of Alice In Borderland season 2, although it is a very close-run thing.
After Arisu and Usagi finally complete the Queen of Hearts challenge, all of the surviving players are given a choice, to stay in the Borderland as permanent residents or to decline and hopefully return home to the real world.
All of the survivors choose to decline the offer except for Banda and Yaba, but as she appeared to die earlier on, Ann is unable to turn down the offer herself.
However, Kuina was lying next to her and made the decision to bring her back on her behalf.
The survivors then wake up to find themselves in the hospital after they had been caught up in a disaster that destroyed much of Tokyo which seemed to cause them to have a shared experience of the Borderland while they were unconscious.
Worryingly, Ann doesn’t wake up initially as her heart has stopped but the doctors operating on her successfully manage to revive her and we see her eye open which confirms that she is alive.
