Davenport woman tried to set house on fire, police allege

A 47-year-old Davenport woman is in custody after police allege she tried to start a fire at a home in 2023, according to court records.

Tiffany Howard faces a felony charge of second-degree arson, court records show.

Shortly after 6:15 p.m. Dec. 18, 2023, Davenport Fire and Police responded to the 2200 block of West 4th Street for a house fire, according to arrest affidavits.

Police allege in affidavits that Howard intentionally set the fire and caused more than $750 of damage to the structure. Officers say Howard “lives at but does not own” the structure where the fire was set.

Howard, who was arrested Monday on a warrant, was being held Tuesday on $5,000 bond in Scott County Jail. She is set for arraignment on March 28 in Scott County Court.
