Dauda Lawal was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigerian gubernatorial elections defeating the incumbent Governor Bello Matawalle of the APC in 2023.

Dauda Lawal Dare was born on 2 September 1965 to his Parents. His Parent’s names are Mr.Lawal ( Father ) and Mrs.Lawal ( Mother ). He was born in an Ethnic Muslim Hausa from Zamfara State. His Family is known in the Textile Industry in Gusau, Zamfara State.
He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University with B.Sc. Political Science and M.Sc. in Political Science.
He also graduated from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto a Ph.D. in Business Administration.
He began his career as a political Education officer in 1989 with the Agency for Mass Mobilization for Social and Economic Reliance Nigeria
