Lucy DeVito joins father Danny on Little Demon cast

Little Demon’s main character, Chrissy, is voiced by Lucy DeVito, daughter of famous stars Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman – both of whom also feature in the new FXX series.

Lucy was born in Los Angeles and pursued acting from an early age, eventually graduating from Brown University in 2007 with a degree in theatre.

The following year she would portray Anne Frank in the stage production of the same name at the Intiman Theatre in Seattle, with a role the next year as La Piccola in The Miracle at Naples.

She would make her on-screen debut in 2009’s Leaves of Grass and even star alongside her mother in the Love, Lose, and What I Wore theatre play. However, her big breakthrough arguably came in 2010 when she was cast as Stephanie Krause in the hit comedy series, Melissa & Joey.

The 39-year-old has also featured in the likes of The Comedian (2016), The Marvellous Mrs Maisel (2018-19), Dumbo (2019), Jumanji: The Next Level (2019) and Shameless (2019). She will also appear in the highly-anticipated Marilyn Monroe biographical movie Blonde, set to release in September 2022.

How has Little Demon been rated after two episodes?

Little Demon premiered its first two episodes last night, August 25th, with new chapters set to drop every Thursday at 10 PM ET via the FXX channel (Hulu drops new episodes the next day).

After only two episodes, the series has been met with a positive to mixed response from fans and critics alike.

On the one hand, Little Demon is scoring an impressive 86% tomatometer and 83% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. On the other hand, ratings of just 6.3/10 and 62% can be seen on IMDB and MetaCritic respectively.

Variety noted in their review that Little Demon struggles to maintain the father-daughter relationship between Satan and Chrissy, despite being voiced by real-life father-daughter duo Danny and Lucy DeVito.

IndieWire gave the show a C rating after two episodes:

“With a strong cast behind it and plenty of time ahead, “Little Demon” could forge an imaginative reputation through the fires of trial and error. But in order to stand out, it needs to get off the highway and carve its own path to hell — leaving good intentions, and conventions, in the dust.” – IndieWire.

This was a sentiment echoed by The Hollywood Reporter, which notes how the series “has everything it needs to be a winner” but warns that “it just has to find its own path to joining them all together.”

Little Demon makes sure to root most of its humor in character and situation instead of gags. Sure, there are plenty of gags, but we just love the idea of a seemingly relatable story being layered over by ridiculous circumstances.” – Decider.
