Daniel McNeil recommended to be Moline 6th Ward Alderman
Moline’s Sixth Ward is closer to having a new Council representative, after the death of the previous one in December.
Mayor Sangeetha Rayapati is recommending Daniel McNeil be appointed to fill the 6th Ward City Council seat left vacant after the death of Sixth Ward Alderman Pat O’Brien last December. The decision was made after considering applications and holding interviews with those who were interested.
McNeil is Executive Director of Spring Forward, a Rock Island nonprofit that provides a safe, educational after-school environment for children from kindergarten through sixth grade. He graduated from Western Illinois University and has an MA in Community and Economic Development.
The Moline City Council must still approve McNeil’s appointment. The Council is scheduled to vote on the appointment at its Tuesday, January 23 meeting.
