Bjorn Engels comments on Aston Villa's penalty takers & Jack Grealish
Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers will clash for the first time this season in September.
Bjorn Engles has shared that Aston Villa have a set plan as to who their first two penalty takers are after the drama during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Wolves on Monday night.
Paul Pogba missed a penalty for United at Molineux despite Marcus Rashford taking and scoring one during the previous game.
Nonetheless, Speaking to Sky Sports News (20/08/2019 at 12:30 pm), centre-back Engles stated that Villa have two set spot-kick takers, but they can change if someone doesn’t feel up to it on the day.
Added with that, he also shared his thoughts on the Birmingham accent and trying to understand his captain and local boy Jack Grealish.
“Our manager has said this one [is the first penalty taker], and this one [is the second],” Engels told Sky Sports News. “The player who feels good will just take it. The one who is the first one says ‘I will take it’, so [the others] will say ‘if you feel confident you will take’.
On how people in Birmingham speak: “My girlfriend warned me that it’s a little slower than the others. But her accent is even worse.
“When he [Grealish] speaks to me, the accent goes a little bit away, so it’s easier to understand. But sometimes I need to listen very carefully.”
New summer signing, Wesley is Villa’s first penalty-taker, with captain Jack Grealish in second, though Jonathan Kodjia, who is a squad player, is also capable of taking that responsibility also.
Despite Villa losing their opening two matches, centre-back Engels has settled in very well at the club and it could be argued that he has been their best purchase, so far. He has no doubt looked outstanding alongside Tyrone Mings.
