2023 Osher Fundraising Report - Osher Institute - School of Professional & Continuing Studies

In consultation with the Osher Leadership Council, the Osher Institute at the University of Richmond set its 2023 annual fundraising goals at $33,000 from 28% of current Osher membership.

Members gave generously and we are pleased to report 297 members in 234 households (94% of goal) gave $45,881 (39% over goal) to Osher in 2023.

Money raised in 2023 strengthened financial reserves and will also be used to support special events and speakers, our instructor recognition gathering, our volunteer ice cream social, two new laptop computers for Osher classes, and more.

Some fundraising highlights for 2023:

  • 100% of the members of the Osher Leadership Council made a gift,
  • Our first gift of the year was given on January 6, 2023 and our last gift was given on December 31, 2023,
  • Gifts ranged from $5 to $2,500,
  • The average household gift was $196,
  • More members and more households gave in 2023 than any other year,
  • More dollars were raised in 2023 than any other year,
  • More donors participated in UR Here than any other year, and
  • Tax-savvy donors included two donors of appreciated stocks and twenty donors using qualified charitable distributions from traditional IRAs or donor advised funds

Osher’s community is stronger with this wonderful financial support. We are grateful for every member and for every gift.
